Apprentices have the opportunity to earn while they learn,
gain real life experience and improve future job prospects. Each apprenticeship
has its equivalent educational level ~eg a level 2 apprenticeship (intermediate)
is GCSE standard and can take between 1-5 years to complete.
We’re delighted that 18 year old Gemma has joined MRM’s
Client Service Department to help support the team on various client
campaigns. Here’s Gemma’s summary of her
start with us:
“I must admit, starting a new apprenticeship in such a large
business is VERY overwhelming… My first two weeks basically consisted of
finding where to go! Luckily because my department are so endearing and
supportive they helped me through every step and made me feel comfortable and I
settled in really well.
After I finally got a handle on where I was going, my
training with Client Support Manager, Yvonne became more in depth and I was
taken around all the other departments to see how we all interlink and help
each other. Yvonne has taken me under her wing and has helped me come to grips
with what I am doing, how I’m doing it and everything along the way. As well as
Yvonne, HR Manager, Claire has been helping me out with everything else and
making me feel comfortable and well suited in the job role itself.
Since I have started, I have been given a variety of
different tasks not only in my department but also in the others I had visited.
In summary, the tasks I have done so far include: invoices, pick, pack and
despatch, coupon clearing, work on the Children in Need project, training on the
fulfilment system, spread sheet work, inputting despatch costs and creating
questionnaires for a client.
In addition to the work I’m doing at MRM, I also attend
Northampton College every Monday afternoon and have also been given the chance
to attend Kettering College every Tuesday afternoon for technology courses…..
which will be very useful for me! I am looking forward to being able to know
exactly what I am doing and getting stuck in to my intended job whilst
achieving my level 2 NVQ certificate in customer services along the way.”
